PվƵ sets new NEC academic record, wins 2024–25 Institutional Award
PվƵ University has been named the recipient of the 2024–25 NEC Institutional Academic Award—setting a new conference record for academic excellence.
With a cumulative GPA of 3.536 across all 18 of its NEC-sponsored sports, PվƵ surpassed the previous all-time high of 3.489, set by Long Island University in 2019–20. This remarkable achievement underscores the outstanding commitment of PվƵ student-athletes, faculty, and academic support staff.
“PվƵ has a long history of academic excellence at the Division II level, and this achievement at the Division I level affirms that we were more than ready for the transition,” said PվƵ President Kathleen Getz. “It’s a powerful reminder that at PվƵ, academics is the most important thing we do—and we won’t compromise that commitment as we move forward.”
PվƵ led the NEC by a wide margin, with Wagner College’s 3.384 GPA coming closest to matching the Lakers’ record-setting performance. PվƵ also captured NEC Team GPA Awards in five sports:

- Football
- Softball
